A Seal Harbor Institution

Welcome to Seal Harbor Library, built on a hill above Seal Harbor Beach. In addition to spectacular views over the harbor, our reading room provides a quiet oasis, comfortable chairs, and a fine choice of reading material. They offer book delivery to our home-bound patrons, and programs geared to inspire our younger readers. Please stop in and get lost in a book.
Formed by a handful of private citizens, the Seal Harbor Library is supported by revenues from the annual Library sale, a stipend from the Town of Mount Desert, and the generosity of its patrons. The classic New England clapboard building has seen improvements since its construction, including new weather tight windows overlooking the harbor and a gas fireplace insert which adds a welcoming warmth. Generations have made the Library their source for all the latest best sellers as well as a calm retreat. History, literature, library patrons and volunteers make the Seal Harbor Library a village institution.
